Matt Marr, a US / Canada based Dancer, Choreographer, Educator, Actor and Writer, worked his way into becoming a working and thriving professional through his passion and endless journey through the arts.  Pre-professionally, Matt became well known amongst his community for his engaging stage presence and instinctive performing abilities.   It was this connection with the audience that Matt fell in love with.

Matt made his way into the TOP 3 spot of the fourth and final season of So You Think You Can Dance Canada, getting the opportunity to work with Luther Brown, Stacey Tookey, Steve Bolton, Sho-Tyme, Melissa Williams, Sean Cheesman, Sabrina Matthews, Maria Torres, Tony and Melanie, Sergio Trujillo, Blake McGrath, and Jean-Marc Genereux.  Matt learned and performed new styles including Argentenian Tango, Cha-Cha, Quickstep, Hustle, Jive, and Bollywood.  It was the experience of a lifetime, and has shot him to the top of his game instilling confidence in his own personal style of dance.  It was beyond educational, motivational and was groundbreaking in launching his career.

In his professional career, Matt has been working in all facets of the industry. Matt is a Supporting Lead Actor in the Dance Feature Film “Dancin’ It’s On (2015)” which premiered October 16th 2015 in over 1000 theatres across the United States, featuring 11 of the American and Canadian So You Think You Can Dance Winners + All-Stars.  Appearing as ‘Danny’ in the film produced and directed by David Winters, who plays ‘A-rab’ in the timeless classic “West Side Story (1961)”.

Matt was a dancer in Rasta Thomas’ ‘Bad Boys of Dance’ choreographed by Adrienne Canterna, a mostly male contemporary company with urban influence on an 8 month International Tour with their show ‘’Best of Rock The Ballet’’ performing hundreds of shows in dozens of cities in Germany, Switzerland, and Israel.

Matt went on tour with dance superstars and Creative Emmy Winners Derek Hough and Julianne Hough in the 2015 U.S National Tour “Move Live On Tour”, performing in high-esteemed venues such as Radio City NYC, the Nokia Theatre LA, The Fox Theatre, the Venetian in Las Vegas, The Mohegan Sun, dancing 57 shows in 48 cities within 2 months across the United States, choreographed and directed by Napoleon and Tabitha D’Umo (Nappytabs), also choreographed by Kyle Hanagami, Tessandra Chavez, Gregg Russell, and Travis Wall.

Matt has worked in professional Musical Theatre and Opera productions, performing in the world premiere of Summer In The City directed by Randy Johnson at ‘Stage West Calgary’ and in the Canadian Opera Company’s 2016 rendition of Maometto II. 

Matt has judged and/or taught for competitions and conventions in Canada and the USA including ‘View Dance Challange’, U.S touring competition/convention ‘Dancers Inc’, ‘In The Streetz Convention Competition’ U.S.A, ‘DanceQuest’ Saint John, ‘IDance’, and ‘5,6,7,8 Showtime’ which tours across Canada.  Matt teaches at Workshops and Intensives Internationally and has taught at Millennium Dance Complex Salt Lake City, Harbour Dance Center in Vancouver, BC, ‘Metro Movement’ in Toronto, National Ballet School Summer Program in Toronto, Shaun Royer’s ‘Sound Check Artists’ In Los Angeles, Dance Canada in Ontario, to name a few.  Matt loves to put together choreography for studios and enjoys the process of teaching, and helping students to reach their full potential.

Currently, Matt Marr dances for Donny Osmond at his Las Vegas Residency, touring with him through the United States and Canada during Donny’s Summer Tours.
